Grey's S03E22 and 23 |
Like always, spoilers galore.
I have mixed feelings about the latest 2 hour special episode of Grey's titled "The Other Side of This Life". I loved the fact that it was two hours, but I hate the fact that majority of the two hours, was devoted to the possible spin-off that was being planned. There were so little scenes of Seattle. Half the time, I kept wondering if my favourite doctors in Seattle Grace were actually still around at all. Instead they kept showing scenes of LA, of strange doctors we hardly even know about. And may I also add that the acting of the LA cast definitely isn't as amazing as the Seattle cast, but of course, that may be attributed to the long time collaboration of the original Seattle people and thus, they already have a certain level of fantastic chemistry with each other. The LA cast's acting, is kinda stiff. But who knows. Maybe if we give the LA people a bit more time they might develop some level of chemistry and then the acting might actually pick up. But of course, that's if the producers actually go ahead with the spin-off.
What I loved about the episode though was that despite being very focused on LA (and not on my favourite doctors in Seattle) it was very Addy-centric. DR.ADDISON FORBES MONTGOMERY is so classy, sexy and hot. I'm in love with her, her style, her wit, and oh god, her hair. I want to run my fingers through it... gosh. So so so so SO so SO soft, silky and hot. Plus she is so funny. And cool. I love the fact that the episode just had so many scenes of her, doing her thing, being the kind of gal that she is. Intelligent, focused, emotional, and sometimes ditzy. I'll feel so damn sad if she really leaves Seattle Grace. There'll be a gap there that just can't be filled.
I loved the whole idea of Cristina being forced into the whole wedding package thing, and how she actually wants to go through with it for Burke's sake. Which goes to show how much she has changed as a person (which is what Dr. Colin Marlow said in the previous episode or two)from someone who would never compromise her personality in a relationship, to someone who is now willing to do anything to make her other half happy. She has grown! She has changed for the better. She's becoming less robotic definitely. And it adds a certain factor of reality to it, because people do change when they are growing up. (pity the wedding gown scene wasn't as hilarious as the photos of them actually shooting it. haha.)
I love the fact that Alex is finally getting some back story and focus here. I listened to the official podcast on Grey's and they said that Alex is by far the least explored character in Grey's. And that's why people love him, because he adds that whole mysterious factor to the show. We do know a little about his childhood, growing up with an abusive dad, learning wrestling to protect his mom from his dad... we know he is an outward jerk-ass with an inner, softer side in him. But his story is obviously the least explored. And I'm glad that he is finally really becoming someone in the show. I love the fact that he is bonding so well with Meredith and Izzie now. I dunno, I just loved that scene. And from what Eva said, something must have happened to Alex that made him the person that he is today, someone who actively shuns anyone who has feelings for him, and he for her. (and the way Alex responded, just serves to show that he has lots of secrets yet undiscovered)
I hated the fact that Meredith's stepmom died. I mean, why are the producers so mean to Mer? She has like, how many people dying around her, and to make her dad slap her because she had to tell him the news? Thatcher is an idiot. But I actually felt that that scene was very well shot, very powerful, emotional scene, with solid acting. But still, Mer doesn't deserves so much pain. She is dark and twisty, yes but lighten up the horrors please?
And Izzie and George? Someone stab them with a ten-blade or use a surgical drill to puncture their stupid brains. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! O'Malley, stop being such a indecisive jerk to Callie, and Stevens, stop being a vixen trying to steal a married man. SERIOUSLY. How can they actually think what they are doing is RIGHT? It is so horribly wrong. So so so immoral and despicable. And yet they are going about as if they have the right to do this. To keep doing this. THEY KISSED IN AN ELEVATOR. The elevator cord should have snapped and sent them plummeting to their doom. ARGH.
Oh speaking of elevators, I love the whole concept of the talking elevator god that Addison thinks she encounters. But I was kinda hoping that the whole talking elevator was really a figment of her imagination though. The idea that it was really a security guard speaking to her just isn't as fascinating as the whole 'I think I'm insane' thing.
Two more episodes before season 3 ends... I'm feeling kinda sad, but at the same time , I can hardly wait!Labels: fanboy, grey's anatomy, tv |
